Convalmore 32 years 1984 with 0.7 liters and 48.2% vol.
The Convalmore 32 Year Old, distilled in 1984, was launched in the Fall of 2017 in the Special Release Series. It was bottled at 48.2% ABV at natural cask strength after aging in Hogsheads American oak casks. The Convalmore 32 year old presents itself with enormous depth and excellent balance. In terms of taste, it represents a counterpoint to the 36-year-old Convalmore, which came onto the market in 2013. The Convalmore Distillery in Dufftown has a colorful history behind it. After numerous sales and a fire, the whiskey distillery has long served as a warehouse for Glenfiddich. When looking for rare and excellent single malt whiskeys for the Rare Malts series, the old stocks of the Convalmore distillery proved to be very interesting. In 2004, the first bottling from Convalmore in the Special Release series came onto the market. With every new Convalmore bottling in the Special Release series, you wish there weren't just limited editions, but more of this excellent single malt whiskey.
3,972 bottles of the 32-year-old Convalmore 1984 are available worldwide. Each bottle of Natural Cask Strength Convalmore 48.2% ABV is individually numbered. The production dates "1984 Bottled and Distilled in Scotland 2017" are noted on the bottle label and on the matching gift packaging. The hallmark of the Convalmore distillery, the Blue Bell flower adorns the box of the Convalmore whiskey aged 32. In 1985 the Convalmore distillery in Speyside closed. With the Convalmore 32 years, Diageo launched the fourth Convalmore of the Special Release series in 1984. The predecessors were the Convalmore 24 years from 1978, the Convalmore 28 years from 1977 and the Convalmore 36 years from 1977. All bottlings of the Special Release series were limited editions. The special releases are extremely popular not only with whiskey lovers, but also with whiskey collectors. The prices for the rare Natural Cask Strength Convalmore could even go up. Test Convalmore 32 years 1984 with 48.2% vol.
Even in the 0.7 liter bottle, the Speyside whiskey shines like 18-carat gold. When poured into the glass, it is thick and has a pleasant structure. A sweet, mild scent beguiles the nose with butter biscuits, delicate nutmeg and pudding. Almond oil and some oak are added. Gradually, the fruity aromas come to light. Tart apples, tangy pears and sweet melons are accompanied by orange peel, brown sugar and spice. The first sip of the Convalmore 32 year old inspires with a smooth fruity sweetness. Oak spiciness finds the perfect acid balance. With a little water, waxy notes and even more fruits not only appear in the fragrance. The taste also becomes even more intense and brings roasted aromas, charcoal and lots of spice. For a long time, the Convalmore remains 32 years old. It unmistakably shows its strong character, which it owes to its storage in American hogsheads and its old age. As an aperitif for a special moment, the Convalmore 32 year old is an excellent choice.
